Year Two Weekly Update

Review (This week)

English :

This week we have been learning about the features of instructions.

Maths :

We have introduced statistics. We have collected data for tally charts, pictograms and bar charts.

Science:

We have carried out an investigation to prove that light travels in straight lines.

Preview (Next week)

English :

We will continue learning about instruction writing and learn instructions for 'How to make a mummy!'.

Maths :

We will continue with statistics: representing and interpreting data.

Science:

We will carry out a series of investigations to complete our 'light and dark' unit.


Happy chinese new year!

What a fabulous celebration: we welcomed in the year of the pig in style! We wish you and your families a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead.

Instruction Writing

We have started our new module on instruction writing. We gave our friends instructions on how to navigate around an obstacle course.

Does light travel in straight lines?

We have enjoyed investigating light! This week we found out that light does indeed travel in straight lines!

Homework :

Maths: tally charts

English: Week 5 spellings + writing comments in your Reading Records. What did you like about the book? What was your favourite part?

Please make sure you are reading with your child and writing in their Reading Records.

Notices:

  • Please send your child into school with their hats, water bottles and folders
  • Next Thursday, 14th February we will be having a Valentine's Disco during ECA time. Your child may bring a change of clothes and a 20 baht contribution for a drink and snacks (Year 2 will not be in the EY playground as the letter sent states but the Dance Studio)
  • Please be reminded about the importance of children wearing safe and appropriate footwear to school. It states in the parent handbook that 'open-toed sandals, flip flops or crocs are not allowed'
  • The Boonchoo foundation for children with special needs are desperate for donations of items such as clothes, toys and books. If you have any items that you no longer need or wish to donate, please bring them along to school.


PE is on Monday and Thursday (they may wear their kit all day).

Swimming is on Tuesday (please label their kit, goggles and cap with their name).
