Year Two Weekly Update

Review (This week)

English :

This week we have been learning about alphabetical order and how it is used in non-fiction texts.

Maths :

We have been learning about multiplication using arrays and grouping. We have recapped counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Science :

We have been learning about staying safe with electricity and continued with building circuits.

Preview (Next week)

English :

We will be using our learning about non-fiction information texts to write our very own factfiles!

Maths :

We will continue learning about multiplication by using repeated addition on a numberline.

Science :

We will be investigating batteries.

We have had so much fun in PE lessons learning about basketball with Coach Alf! We have learnt about defending and shooting the ball! Next we will be learning about attacking.

Amazing art

Building on our learning about primary and secondary colours, we are now learning about tints and shades.

How to train your robot

We have been learning how to give a set of instructions (commands) in order to get our 'robots' to move.

We need to keep practising reading tricky words so that we can recognise them quickly! Make sure you practise reading at home every day and write it in your Reading Record!

We have been learning about putting words in alphabetical order to support our learning about non-fiction texts. Where can you find alphabetical order being used in everyday life?

We love Dance Wednesday!

Lion Class independently role-played building the River Nile during playtime! They were using lots of our vocabulary words.

Homework :

Maths- 2x tables (MyiMaths or worksheet)

Notices:

Some people have had difficulty logging into MyiMaths because they are trying to log into MyMaths. Don't forget the 'i' (it stands for international).


Notices:

  • Please be reminded that books borrowed from the library must be returned in order to get a new one.
  • Please remember to sign your child's Reading Record when they have finished the book.
  • Your child should have come home with their lines for our Christmas production, 'Santa's Hat'. We have started rehearsing our performance in December. Please practise the songs and lines at home.
  • We will be celebrating Loy Krathong on Thursday November 22nd. Your child (and you) are invited to wear Thai traditional dress on this day. There will be a letter about this event soon.


Homework expectations:

Monday- homework from the previous week is due in

Tuesday- new homework (1 English + 1 Maths/MyiMaths)

PE is on Monday and Thursday (they may wear their kit all day).

Swimming is on Tuesday (please label their kit, goggles and cap with their name).
