シンポジウム「内海をめぐる想像力━━ツーリズムとアートで結ぶ瀬戸内海と地中海」

　本拠点は、香川大学の協力のもと、観光とアートの観点から地中海と瀬戸内海という２つの内海を比較し、両者の相違とつながりを考えるシンポジウムを開催しました。

　一日目の3月25日は、地中海地域の美術と観光に焦点をあて、また瀬戸内地域との意外な関係性を明らかにしました。二日目の3月26日には、大島青松園と香川県立ミュージアムにおけるフィールドレクチャーを通じ、瀬戸内地域の「イメージ／表象」と美術について理解を深めました。三日目の3月27日には、瀬戸内地域の表象をめぐる研究報告の後、総合討論を行いました。これらの三日間の活動を通じ、２つの内海の歴史や文化についての知見を深め、新しい地域研究の可能性を学際的・多角的に探求しました。

Global Mediterranean Symposium "Imagined Inland Seas: Approaching Setouchi and the Mediterranean through Tourism and Art"

In collaboration with Kagawa University, Global Mediterranean at ACRI, Toyo University, organized a three-day symposium from March 25–27 in Kagawa. The symposium aimed to comparatively explore the Setouchi and Mediterranean regions through the lenses of tourism and art.

The first day (March 25) focused on art and tourism in the Mediterranean and highlights its lesser-known connections with Setouchi. On march 26, participants joined on-site field lectures at the National Sanatorium Oshima-Seishoen and the Kagawa Museum, fostering deeper insights into the "images/representations" and arts of Setouchi. The final day (March 27) featured expert discussions examining Setouchi's cultural representations in detail.

Through these activities, the symposium sought to deepen understanding of the histories and cultures of both inland seas while promoting new, multidisciplinary approaches to area studies.
