BNERC:The Indian Ambassador and Counsellor of Science and Technology visited

In celebration of a new research and educational programme initiated by the Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

The Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre (BNERC) and the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary New Science (IdNS) have developed advanced research and educational programmes in collaboration with Indian universities. The collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has been in particular successful as summarised in the brief achievements below.

BNERC, IdNS and IIT Delhi have started a new research and educational programme on “Advanced nano characterisation” using the facilities and equipment introduced into both BNERC and IIT Delhi. The “Hard X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopic (HAXPES) System (Ulvac-Phi Inc.)”, which was recently installed in BNERC, can now be remotely operated via the Internet from IIT Delhi, thanks to which students and researchers at IIT Delhi can carry out surface characterisation of novel nano materials.

An inaugural ceremony was held on 18th July 2017 at the International Seminar Hall in BNERC Annex Beta. The Indian Ambassador and Counsellor of Science and Technology of the Embassy of India, the Director, Deans and Professors of IIT Delhi, and the Director, Deputy-Directors and researchers of BNERC participated in the ceremony via the multiple Skype conference system. Finally, the Ambassador switched the new equipment on and the researchers from both BNERC and IIT Delhi demonstrated the remote operation of HAXPES for the surface characterisation of nano materials, which were synthesised by both institutions. We believe that the present new system will definitely activate and accelerate the research and educational collaborative programmes developed by both BNERC and IIT Delhi.
