How does my child apply for the options? - To make their Key Stage Four Choices we ask that students complete this form using their Towers account -
Whats the difference between GCSE and BTECS (and so on)? - All of the subjects that students study give them an opportunity to get a 'Level 2' qualification. Gaining a good range of qualifications at Level 2 will allow students to continue in further study (at a Sixth Form, a college or an apprenticeship). All qualifications are worth the same and the differences are just the name, the grading and the evidence that students produce to achieve the grade.
What if my child wants to do two options in the same block? - Unfortunately students are unable to take options from the same block because they will be timetabled to be taught at the same time.
We have no idea what options to pick? - To support you and your child making their options please make use of all the information and support the school are providing. In addition to this if you would like to speak to a member of the Careers team for 1-2-1 support then please email careers@towers.school so that a appointment can be made for you and your child.
We can't pick? - We want Towers students to achieve the very best across all of their subjects. The greater the number of high Key Stage Four qualifications a student has, the more doors that will be open to them. Therefore, we want students to choose the subjects they feel they can do well in and make sure that they study hard for every one, right from the start and throughout Key Stage Four.
What advice can you give us? - Our advice to students when applying for particular choices is to think carefully about what subjects they enjoy, to consider the career pathway they may have in mind and to find out about all of the subjects, ultimately choosing the ones that they are most passionate about. If you would like 1-2-1 advice, support and guidance then please email careers@towers.school so that a remote appointment can be made for you and your child with a member of the Careers team.
What will they do in each different subject? - If you have watched the subject videos and read the information in the Key Stage Four Options booklet, but still have questions about a subject then we suggest you email the subject staff, you can find the information at the bottom of the page in the booklet.
If you have any questions that have not been answered or require any further information please complete this Google Form and a member of staff will get back to you -
