Core subjects are compulsory for every student entering Year 10; students will continue to study core subjects until the end of Year 11. All core subjects are graded under the new GCSE 9-1 grading system, 9 being the highest grade and 1 being the lowest. The government recognise a Grade 4 as being a standard pass.
Any student who does not achieve a 4 in English (either English Language or English Literature) and/or Maths in their GCSE is currently required to continue to study the subject at Post 16. Further guidance on Post 16 and what happens after Yr11 will be provided to students and parents during the start of Year 11.
