Here is a little bit of information about how we lend books to students in our Library Learning Lab...
Borrowing Books
All readers choose their library books based on things they enjoy and have an interest in reading. Many readers, especially younger readers, may need help with reading their books at home.
Kindergarten and First Grade Readers may check out 1 library book each week.
Second and Third Grade Readers may check out 2 books a week. Third grade students will have the opportunity to borrow up to 3 books once they prove they are responsible with the care of their library books.
Readers may keep their library book for 1 week and then bring it back to exchange it for a different book on their classroom library day. They may renew their library book for one more week if no one is waiting for it.
If readers forget to bring their library book back on their designated library day, they may look at books in the library only. Readers can bring their book back the following day and exchange books at that time. Please have them return their library books as soon as possible so they may exchange their book.
Caring For Library Books & Replacing Lost or Destroyed Books
Please help your child remember to take care of their library books, bring them back on time and in good condition, and enjoy reading at home with family members.
If a library book has not been returned within a month, a bill will be sent to the family of the student. If a library book has been lost or damaged, please let me know so we can discuss how it can be replaced. It happens!
If a book has been lost or damaged, we accept cash or checks made payable to: Vogel-Wetmore School (please add “Library Book” on the memo line). You will receive a receipt for your payment.
If there is a family hardship, please let me know so I may work with you. We don’t want lost or damaged books to stop readers from borrowing library books!
