About Us

Welcome to the LRC

The Learning Resource Centre is situated on the ground floor adjacent to the Bee Hive. It provides a pleasant working environment and offers a range of resources and facilities.

It is open everyday 8am - 4pm. It is managed by an LRC Manager and supported by an LRC Assistant.

Students are welcome to use the LRC before school, during break, lunch and after school for personal study and reading.

The LRC has approximately 11,000 books comprising of fiction, non-fiction, and a Careers Library.

The books may be borrowed for a two week period, students in Years 7-11 may borrow up to two books at a time, or up to six during the summer reading challenge (with approval).

There is desk seating for 60 students, several informal seating areas, and a dedicated reading area with comfortable seating.

Classes regularly come to the LRC with their teachers to use the various resources.

Student Librarians

We have a dedicated team of Student Librarians and Library Assistants, without whom the LRC would not be such a fantastic place to work!

Our helpers are trained in the day-to-day running of a library, and provide valuable knowledge on books, authors and book series for other students.

Our assistants also support events in the LRC, such as author visits, feeder school days and book fairs.

Recruitment takes place at the start of each new academic year.

LRC Expectations

  • The LRC is a quiet place for reading and individual study.

  • Treat books with respect! When books are damaged we cannot loan them to other people.

  • Treat others with respect. This is a shared space for everyone to enjoy.

  • No eating or drinking in the LRC (unless during specified club time)

  • Tidy up! Always leave the LRC clean and tidy. Put chairs back where you found them and throw your rubbish in the bin.
