We acknowledge this land that we meet on today is the
traditional lands for the Kaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their country.
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the custodians of the Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people today.
We also pay respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people visiting/attending from other areas of South Australia/Australia.
Spirit of TOM
Spirit of TOM
The Spirit of TOM refers to the fundamental attitude that underpins the entire program. It encompasses all the activities involved in successful personal and team participation.
It is evident when teams:
demonstrate tolerance, co-operation and fair play;
abide by the rules of the program and are self-disciplined in their problem solving;
respect the views and opinions of all team members;
respond positively to overcome obstacles encountered during the Challenge timeline;
make any repairs, and carry all of their props themselves; and
appreciate the time and effort of those that help make TOM possible (judges, parents, facilitators etc.)
If you see or know an individual or team that has an outstanding Spirit of TOM story, let a committee member (blue or red shirt) know on State Day.
