My Busy Life
I am Yumi Takashima. After Graduating from Hawaii Tokai International College in the Fall 2021, I transferred to University of Hawaii at Manoa as a junior. My major is Marketing, and I am planning to major in International Business as well. If you are thinking about transferring to UH Manoa or another university in the United States, I think my article will help you to imagine and prepare for the difficult challenges later in college.
Studying hard
The first reason why I am busy at UH Manoa is that I always study hard there. My major is Marketing which is Business. To enter Shidler College which is a business school at UH Manoa, there are some requirements; how many transfer credits and GPA you need, and what classes are required to have. However, I actually did not have some required classes to enter Shidler College, so I am taking ECON and ACC classes to have required classes for entering college. When I decided to go to UH Manoa, I only had around four months left at HTIC, so I did not have enough time to prepare to enter UH Manoa. That is why I really recommend that you decide your career after graduating from HTIC as soon as possible because if you decided it earlier, you may have time to complete every requirement. Additionally, the classes were harder than I thought, and unless I prepare for my classes, I cannot keep up with them. Also, most classes have quizzes for each chapter that affect my grade, so I have to study to get a high score. In my Second Language Studies (SLS) class, we have reading discussions every day, so we read many articles as homework to prepare for the group discussion in the class. Furthermore, I have a lot of homework as well, and even if the professor allows us to do assignments for one week, I should keep working on it. It is the first time for me to study really hard, but I never felt studying is not a struggle for me, and I recognize that studying and learning new things is really important and fun. I feel like I am being smart!!!!
Looking for a handsome boy who will be my boyfriend
I really want to date a person who is not Japanese. Since the number of people who were infected by COVID-19 increased in January, and many UH Manoa students were infected every day, we could not have in-person classes at all for the first three weeks. I was looking forward to going to school to encounter new friends, but it was impossible. Also, turning the camera on was not required for some classes, so it was hard for me to find handsome boys. However, the classes started in person on January 31, so I always dress nicely to get ready to meet handsome guys at any time.
Having a busy weekend
I am home staying in Honolulu which is prosperous and has many restaurants and cafes near my house, and my host grandpa always takes me to many restaurants that I did not know about. Also, Waikiki is close to my house, and when I have time after class, I go to Waikiki by bicycle for relaxing. That is why even on weekdays, I am busy. During my homestay, I met many people who are older than me and had many experiences. When I talk to them, I always learn a lot, respect them, and feel like I want to be like them. Also, they took me to many places and gave me many new experiences as well. Last weekend, I went to play golf, go snorkeling, and visit a BBQ party with them. Even though there are many tough times, and I cannot sleep, a fun weekend is waiting for me. These experiences would not be possible without the people who are around me, so I want to be always thankful for anything and treasure every wonderful encounter.
