The Daté House Factional Dispute is a quite famous incident that could possibly have led to the fall of the Daté house of the Sendai domain, one of the largest domains in Japan at that time. However, it is not well known that Tohoku University Library holds a large number of documents on this incident. This exhibition features two groups of rare documents: "Documents of the Kambun Incident" and "Toyoma-Daté Family's Documents," selecting items that get to the crux of the incident.

It has been 59 years since the last time Tohoku University Library held an exhibition featuring the Daté House Factional Dispute in 1964 (Heisei 39). In addition, it is the first time for the library to exhibit old documents as the main focus. We hope you immerse yourself in the history of the Daté House Factional Dispute.
