We believe flexibility and job-embedded professional learning is essential to ensure a sustainable and high-quality program. That’s why our pathway to the LPE designation program takes place over an entire school year so that participants can apply their learning and practice the new skills attained in the program authentically by supporting teachers in their building. Throughout the program, teachers create a portfolio of artifacts that demonstrate their mastery of core content and coaching skills from the training sessions and their coaching work with mentees.
March to May: The LPE application is open. The application deadline will be in May 22, 2025 for the 2025-2026 school year.
August to December: LPE candidates will complete four learning modules, including (live) instructional sessions and PLCs via Zoom and training materials and deliverables via Google Classroom. At the same time, they will immediately apply their learning and mentor at least one teacher candidate in their school building. LPEs will also receive virtual site visits from the TNTP staff.
January to May: LPE candidates will continue regular support with their mentees. Additionally, in the culminating (fifth) learning module, each LPE candidate will identify and research an area of growth aligned with the needs of their school and/or school improvement plan. There will be regular check-ins on their progress in the self-study, and LPEs will have a final presentation, including recommendations based on their research, which they will share with school and district leaders and the TNTP LPE staff.
Expert, Personalized Coaching: Our program coaches—educators with a track record of developing teachers—will work with participants one-on-one to help them effectively support mentees and complete the training requirements.
Designation That Counts: Candidates who earn the LPE designation through our program will be prepared to immediately impact the growth and development of new teachers in their school—and a lifetime of difference for students.
Training That’s Effective and Affordable: Tuition for the program is $2,000 and the program may be paid for through district or co-op funding or by the participant.
