Lead Professional Educator Designation

TNTP’s new program helps Arkansas teachers expand their impact and earn the Lead Professional Educator designation—without leaving the classroom.

The Arkansas Lead Professional Educator (LPE) program helps experienced teachers grow their leadership skills, earn the Lead Professional Educator (LPE) designation, and support new teachers while continuing to teach full-time in their schools. Operated by TNTP, a national nonprofit that has worked with schools across the country for the last two decades and in Arkansas for the last two years, our LPE training is grounded in our experience training teachers. Program participants will:

Upon completing the program, participants will earn the Lead Professional Educator designation from the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

About TNTP

TNTP is a national nonprofit that has worked with state agencies and school districts nationwide, including Arkansas. We are deeply committed to supporting students, teachers, and school communities across the state. Further, we are proud that TNTP's new Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tequilla Brownie, grew up in and is based in Arkansas. "I don't view education as the end; education is a means to an end to help kids like myself escape generational poverty and have access to opportunities in life that set them up for success to have economic mobility," Dr. Brownie recently shared. "TNTP is a national nonprofit that works in education, and our whole focus and mission is to ensure we're interrupting the educational inequities that are happening for far too many children."

Our organization has extensive experience training new teachers through our Teaching Fellows programs (https://tntpteachingfellows.org/) and aspiring leaders through our Pathway to Leadership in Urban Schools. Founded by teachers and inspired by the power of great teaching to change lives, TNTP helps schools, districts, and states develop great teachers, manage their teaching talent strategically, and build systems that prioritize effective teaching in every classroom. Since 1997, we have recruited or trained over 50,000 teachers for high-need schools, catalyzed large-scale reform through acclaimed studies such as The Widget Effect (2009) and The Irreplaceables (2012), pioneered next-generation teacher evaluation and development systems, and launched one of the nation’s premier awards for excellent teaching, the Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice. Today TNTP is active in more than 25 cities. For more information, visit www.tntp.org.
