The marksmanship class is a nationally accredited program recognized by the Department of Defense Civilian Marksmanship Program and is designed to introduce students to gun safety and competitive air rifle shooting. This specialized course is offered to any student interested in marksmanship training and does not require previous experience with firearms. Students will be introduced to the sport of competitive rifle shooting by utilizing the .177 caliber air rifle.

Participants of this course will learn the basics of rifle safety and indoor range operations. Shooters will begin to understand the fundamentals of accurate marksmanship and gradually increase their ability to shoot targets in the prone supported and prone unsupported position. At the end of the course, the participants will compete for Marksmanship medals.

Any student who has already completed one of these Air Marksmanship Courses earlier in the summer and who are interested in precision shooting training are encouraged to sign up for future courses in which instructors will work with that participant to enhance a student's knowledge and skills needed for advanced competitive shooting. Advanced shooting positions of standing and kneeling will be taught in order for students to seek future opportunities to participate in 3-position shooting competitions nationally. The more courses a participant participates in, the more the instructors will work to advance their training.

Enrollment is available to boys and girls.

Supplies: Comfortable shooting attire (no skirts or loose fitting clothing).

This is a full-day camp that runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Lunch, snack and the opportunity to swim is included in the price of the camp.  Register here.
