EYLC
Early Years Learning Community
The Early Years Learning Community caters for students from years 1 to 6. It is a large modern area, which has the flexibility to be broken up into several physical spaces for small group teaching and learning.
This community incorporates a mixture of traditional teaching, modern learning and learning through play. Programmes designed for individual needs are created by teaching staff and students, and their passions and interests are incorporated into learning as much as possible. In this learning community, students learn the foundation skills in reading, writing and maths, but are encouraged to be inquisitive and curious as well. Learning about their identity and being proud of who they are plays a large part in this learning community. Workshops are run in conjunction with the Whanau Learning Community under a concept for a period of time. The EYLC enjoys getting out into the community as much as possible and exploring learning in the outdoors.
