Weehoo! We are back in action!
We have begun our very first unit for this term: BRAINWAVE, and what an exciting start it has been! We thoroughly enjoyed the range of activities planned.
As true superheroes of the Personal Learning Goals, we collaborated, adapted, put on our thinking hats, and worked together as a team.
From building structures to measuring water, did we get everything perfect?
Not always, but that’s okay! Learning new skills is all part of the journey.
Our brains were busy making connections, with neurons snapping and firing as we explored, questioned, and discovered together.

Learning new skills and we did it! Linking our learning about the Brain, we challenged ourselves to try something new by using Tangrams to create animal shapes and practising how to tie a string like a parcel or gift. WOW! We never knew we could do it!

What did we learn from these activities?
Our brains grow stronger when we practise and keep trying, even when it feels tricky at first.
Mistakes helped us learn! They were part of the process, not something to fear.
We developed problem-solving skills, patience, and hand-eye coordination.
Most importantly, we learned that with effort, focus, and perseverance, we can achieve more than we think!
It was a fun one-hour session to celebrate our learning in the Brainwave unit, where we levelled up our skills by solving tangrams with even harder animal shapes! Wow, we never knew we could make such amazing attempts and persevere through tricky challenges.
We also enjoyed the brain maze activity and tower cup stacking, which involved weaving experiences and even folding clothes. These hands-on activities helped us strengthen our focus, coordination, and problem-solving skills while engaging different parts of our brain.
Through these challenges, we learned that our brain grows stronger when we try, practise, and don’t give up easily even when things feel difficult at first. We took time to evaluate ourselves and reflect on how our brain works, recognising which parts of our brain help us learn new skills, manage our emotions, and think creatively.
Most importantly, we discovered that making mistakes is part of learning, and every effort helps our brain build new connections.

Plant-it! We were excited to plant seeds and we are now waiting patiently to see them grow into tiny sprouts and finally… a small vegetable plant! We were thrilled to scoop the soil, plant the tiny vegetable seeds, and water them carefully.
Oh wow! We are young eco-planters, and we believe that plants are living things that need sunlight, water, air, and soil to grow healthy and strong. As we learn about the parts of a leaf and the different parts of a plant, we put on our young scientist hats to explore, observe, and discover how plants grow and why they are important to our world.
In English, we began our Year 3 journey with an engaging Grammar Monster activity, embracing the idea that we are Grammar Monsters! Through this activity, we learned about the eight parts of speech, recognised them in sentences, and applied our understanding to our writing. We are developing greater awareness of when and how to use each part of speech correctly.
In reading, we explored The Bear and the Piano, along with a variety of other texts. We practised answering questions thoughtfully and were introduced to different text types to further develop our reading comprehension skills.
Additionally, we participated in an interview activity where we explored open-ended questioning techniques. We took turns passing the microphone, asking meaningful questions, and responding clearly and confidently.
It has been a positive and purposeful start to the term, and we look forward to building on these skills in the weeks ahead.

It was such a fun picnic together! This activity allowed us to recall what we’ve learned in our unit, ‘What’s on the Menu?’, and apply our knowledge of food nutrition. We were also joined by the school’s nutritionist, and even Cezar’s Kitchen was impressed with what we prepared, wow!
A big thank you to all parents for your time and enthusiasm in making this picnic such a fun and meaningful learning experience for us.
This educational visit was thoughtfully designed to bring learning to life, reinforcing key values through meaningful, real-world experiences connected to the IPC What’s on the Menu? unit.
Our pupils began the day full of excitement, buzzing with anticipation as they boarded the bus, eagerly asking, “How long until we get there?” Their enthusiasm set the tone for a day of discovery and hands-on learning.
At the Yakult Factory, students were fascinated as they witnessed the journey of how a simple drink is produced on a large scale. They observed the use of huge machines and carefully followed each step of the process, from preparation to packaging. It was a powerful moment as many were able to connect what they had learned in class to real-life production, deepening their understanding in a meaningful way.
The excitement continued at Pizza Hut, where the most awaited activity took place, pizza making! Pupils had the opportunity to become young chefs, following instructions to prepare their own pan pizzas. From choosing toppings to carefully placing their creations into the oven (under the supervision of teachers and Pizza Hut staff), they experienced firsthand what it feels like to work in a real kitchen environment.
The highlight of the day? Enjoying the delicious pizzas they made themselves! The sense of pride, joy, and accomplishment was clear as they shared this memorable moment with their friends.
Throughout the visit, students not only explored how food is produced, prepared, and served, but also observed hygiene standards, safety procedures, and teamwork in action. More importantly, they practised values such as responsibility, integrity, cooperation, and respect in authentic settings.
This enriching experience beautifully strengthened the connection between classroom learning and real-life application, leaving our pupils inspired, engaged, and eager to learn more.

An Entry Point full of exploration and curiosity about Earth, shadows, our place in the Solar System, and a hint about the Moon phases!
We had a wonderful time exploring with the globe and torch light, investigating how shadows are formed and how the position of light affects what we see. The Moon shading activity was certainly not an easy challenge, but our learners showed great curiosity, perseverance, and a willingness to explore different ideas.
We know this new learning journey will be an exciting one as we continue to uncover more mysteries about our planet, the Solar System, and beyond!
Time, Place, Earth and Space!
Learning about Day and Night, we discovered how the Earth’s rotation creates the changes we observe between daytime and nighttime.
We explored this concept through an art lens, bringing our understanding to life by creating our very own dioramas. Yes, yes, here is a wonderful way our learners have demonstrated their learning through creativity, imagination, and careful thinking!

Exploring the Moon Phases… with a tasty twist!
As we continued our learning journey about the Moon Phases, we took the opportunity to evaluate our understanding by using something familiar and creative: OREO cookies!
Using the different parts of the OREO, we recreated the phases of the Moon and demonstrated our understanding of how the Moon appears to change as it orbits around the Earth.
It was a fun, hands-on way to show our learning, make connections, and explain the different Moon phases through creativity and teamwork. Who knew learning about space could be this delicious?
