When a student meets with a staff member from the SEBH Department, such as a counselor, advocate, or support teacher, everything is kept confidential between the student and that staff.
This confidentiality may be broken if the student discloses:
New or worsening suicidal thoughts
Plans to seriously harm themself or others
There was a recent and/or severe incident in which they harmed themself
They have been or currently are being abused
Breaking confidentiality may include a call home, to DHS, or to Mobile Crisis Outreach. We will inform students when this happens. It is out of concern for them and keeping them safe. We may also disclose information to others when the student gives us permission.
