The Tiny Pantry Times (TPT) was founded in September 2020 by my husband, Adam, and I to address growing poverty, food insecurity, food waste, and homelessness in Northern Johnson County, Kansas.
Our mission goes beyond just providing food. Tiny Pantry Times provides those items necessary for survival and an improved quality of life for recipients that need a hand up. We advocate for our diverse recipient population by providing equal opportunity for all persons and prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, marital status, national origin, mental or physical disability, political belief or affiliation, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, genetic information and any other class of individual protected from discrimination under state or federal law in any aspect of access to the pantry. Our belief is that by providing a hand up now, in collaboration with our neighbors, local businesses, and community leaders, our recipients will become strong enough to rise above current socio-economic climes to embrace productive pathways towards job and educational opportunities which will garner them self-sufficient later.
Since 2023, the first full year records were kept, TPT has distributed 485,000 lbs (2023), 876,000 lbs (2024), and 740,000 lbs for the first 6 months of 2025. TPT has garnered over 900 like-minded members and has taken in and distributed, on average, 40 tons of food a month to the families, friends, and neighbors of Northern Johnson County, KS and entire KC Metro area. According to PrecisionNutrition.com and HungertoHope.com, the average American consumes 3-5 pounds of food per day. Based on the above, Tiny Pantry Times is sharing over $1,000,000 per year in the form of food and hygiene products necessary to preserve human health, dignity and nutritional security and we are currently looking to expand these services. All of these services are provided by individual donations from LOCAL neighbors and friends in the community, and food recovery efforts through LOCAL restaurant partners, LOCAL partner pantries, and LOCAL partner food recovery specialists.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with a tremendous support base, including other local nonprofits, restaurants, churches, families and individuals like you.
Thank you!!!
