Our TiffinTalk on 10 March 2026 focused on Careers in Pharmacy.
Our former student, Christine Gibbons, qualified as a pharmacist and worked for many years in this area, and later as an executive in the NHS. She has recently graduated with a Masters in Global Public Health. Christine gave a fantastic insight into the important role that pharmacists play within hospitals and in the community and what a rewarding career pharmacy can offer.
Accounting and Tax
Our TiffinTalk on 28 January 2026 focussed on careers in accounting and tax. Three former students shared their experiences of working in these areas -
Jane Gill - currently Head of Tax Strategy at GSK and Head of Tax for ViiV Healthcare, Jane trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant at EY
Nicola Arnold – Chief Financial Officer at Jisc. Nicola also trained as an accountant at EY and has worked in finance roles at St Georges, University of London and UCL, as well as the BBC
Amy Rubens - Global Employment Tax Manager at AAB, having started her career as an apprentice at PwC. You can access Amy's slides below
Creative Industries
Our TiffinTalk on 15 May 2025 featured two former students who have spent their careers working in the creative sector -
Tracey Low - currently Head of Producing Operations at the National Theatre. Previously she worked as Executive Producer at Manchester International Festival and has also worked at Southbank Centre, Chichester Festival Theatre, Manchester Art Gallery and English Pocket Opera Company
Cecile Shannon – an art valuer and silver specialist, currently working freelance for auction houses, formerly at Bonhams

Careers in Dentistry
Our TiffinTalk on 27 November 2024, was on careers in dentistry.
Our former student Jade Su, currently working as a hospital-based dentist providing Special Care Dentistry to adults and children with special needs, shared details of her career so far, including her dental degree, foundation training as a General Dental Practitioner, and subsequent core training as a doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Careers in Architecture
Our talk on 15 October 2024 focused on careers in architecture and design. The following former students talked about their careers so far -
Georgia Roberts, currently with London architecture, urban and interior design practice, Studio PDP
Kamola Askarova, working as an architect at Hawkins\Brown Architects, working largely in commercial and education projects
Lola Leforestier, who has recently graduated with a degree in Architecture, where she explored the way that architecture can be used as a bridge between asylum seekers and the local community
Careers in Sustainability
Our talk on 11 June 2024 focused on careers in sustainability. The following former students gave an insight into their careers, and how they moved into this rapidly expanding sector –

Our TiffinTalk on 5 March 2024 was on careers in engineering. We had 3 speakers, all former students, who were at different stages of their career in a range of engineering disciplines -
Githana Gnanavel studied chemical engineering at Birmingham University and has worked as a process engineer at both Mondelez Bournville and Procter and Gamble. She is currently a management consultant at Credera
Kobi Hariram studied mechanical engineering at Loughborough University and now works for Transport for London as a senior maintenance support technician on the Elizabeth Line
Nida Anis is a junior motorsport engineer and media manager for motor racing teams, working trackside in Formula 4, Formula Regional and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia

Charlie Gowans-Eglinton, a freelance journalist, who has previously worked as acting fashion editor at The Times and senior fashion editor at The Daily Telegraph, as well as working for Style, Grazia and Elle magazines. She is also co-founder of the Wingwoman podcast
Sue Douglas, who began her career as a medical journalist, before writing for The Daily Mail and News of the World, and going on to be assistant editor of The Daily Mail, deputy editor of The Sunday Times and editor of The Sunday Express. She has also worked in magazine publishing for Arcus Infrastructure Partners LLP, an infrastructure private equity fund

On 17 May 2023 we had two former students talking about their experiences in working in mental health -
Catherine Richardson is a clinical psychologist with her own practice in Spain, Madrid Mental Wellbeing. She is experienced in delivering individual therapy, as well as offering group courses in Mental Health First Aid, often using video games, cartoons and films in her sessions to illustrate concepts and practise skills
Isobel Walker is a junior doctor in Nottingham with a special interest in mental health in medicine, and medical education. She is working to improve wellbeing in the profession
