Unit 2, Activity 2: Remix and Reuse Creative Commons Resources

1. For the purpose of this activity, use the remixable resource you located in Unit 2, Activity 1.

2. Review the Remix a Resource article. Open the resource and click on the Remix button. Use the OER Commons Remix tools to remix, save and publish your resource. Once you begin remixing you do not have to complete all of the steps at one time. You can click save and the resource will be in draft stage. To continue the remixing process click edit. Your final step will be to publish your remix. After you click Publish your resource will go into the Pending mode for OER Commons approval. It took about two days to receive an email from OER Commons stating that my remix had been approved and published.

3. Add your remixed published resource to the Unit 2, Activity 2 folder in our Reaching Out OER Commons Group.

For example: I remixed the Auschwitz-Birkenau resource from my example in Unit 2, Activity 1, and renamed and published it Auschwitz-Birkenau and Anne Frank's Father. Some of the content was deleted and a few links and other content about Otto Frank were added. (Remixing does not mean totally re-doing.)

4. Post your thoughts and questions about remixing and reusing to the Discussion tab within the Reaching Out OER Commons Group. Read and respond to the posts of your classmates.

Optional:

If you would like to go beyond remixing, take a look at the creation tools available at OER Commons Create with Open Author.
