College System

Thurstable is made up of three colleges, Apollo, Artemis and Mercury which promote a sense of belonging, community and aspiration.  These names fuse the myths of the Classical world with the space exploration and pioneering spirit of the modern era. Each college has its own staff leadership teams and this small scale model and personalised approach means no student is left behind.  There are 300 students in each college which has a leadership of six members of staff led by a Head of College who is a member of the school's Senior Leadership Team. This ratio of 60 students to 1 staff member is far lower than in a typical secondary school and allows us to really get to know the students as individuals and provide personalised pastoral and academic care. 

Each college has its own student leadership team and there is an extensive ACE programme of Activities, Competitions and Events which allow students to represent their college and gain college points with the aim of winning the annual College Cup.
