What to Expect
We understand that coming to counseling for the first time can be intimidating, so first and foremost, we are proud of you for having the courage to take this first step in seeking help! Our hope is to alleviate as many pre-session jitters as possible and to help you to feel safe, comfortable, and prepared by walking you through the process ahead of time.
Prior to the day of your appointment, you will receive an email prompting you to complete your initial paperwork electronically. We use a HIPAA-compliant electronic health records system called SimplePractice, which allows us to handle informed consent, intake questionnaires, scheduling, billing, and more through one convenient service.
For in-office appointments:
On the day of your appointment, please arrive 5-10 minutes early so that we may begin our session right on time. You do not need to bring anything with you. When you enter the building, you may have a seat in the waiting area that is pictured in the photos below. Our therapist, Jaime, will come and get you as soon as she is ready. Her aim is to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you feel seen, heard, and valued from day one! During your first 50-minute session, you and Jaime will spend some time getting to know one another, addressing any questions that you may have, discussing key information from your intake paperwork, and establishing goals for your continued work together.
For telehealth appointments:
All telehealth sessions will be conducted through the SimplePractice platform. Prior to your appointment, you will receive an email with a link to the video call. Please log on 5-10 minutes early to verify that your technology is working correctly. Additionally, please ensure that you are in a safe, private space where you can communicate openly and without interruption. Jaime will log on at the scheduled time, and the two of you will spend your 50-minute session getting to know one another, addressing any questions that you may have, discussing key information from your intake paperwork, and establishing goals for your continued work together.
