About Through Deep Waters Counseling
Jaime Sansoucie is the owner and founder of Through Deep Waters Counseling, LLC, in Daphne, Alabama. She is an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) under the supervision of Kaysha Clark, LPC-S. Jaime has also been recognized as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Jaime began her career as a counselor after obtaining her Master's of Education in Counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2017. Her first 8 years of professional practice were in the field of education, where she served as a school counselor for middle and high school students. Jaime transitioned into clinical mental health in the fall of 2025 by opening her private practice, Through Deep Waters Counseling, LLC.
Due to her background, Jaime specializes in the treatment of pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults. She has years of experience helping this age group to cope with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, school-related issues, self-esteem, parental separation/family conflict, grief, peer relationships, self-image, life transitions, college/career topics, trauma, and more. However, she is passionate about helping individuals of all ages to navigate the deep waters of life, as the waves can feel quite scary, challenging, and often insurmountable when facing them alone.
Although Jaime's approach to counseling is eclectic and incorporates techniques and principles from a variety of theories, she is a person-centered therapist at the core. Her practice is heavily influenced by the humanistic teachings of Carl Rogers, and she firmly believes that the therapeutic alliance is of the utmost importance for positive client outcomes. It is very difficult to grow and heal when one feels isolated, unsupported, and alone in their struggles. By nature, humans are designed to thrive through relationships with one another. Therefore, unconditional positive regard and accurate empathy are essential in order for clients to feel safe, seen, heard, and valued and to make progress toward their goals.
Along those same lines, Jaime's work is also inspired by Miller and Rollnick’s motivational interviewing approach, which suggests that change and growth occur through compassion, acceptance, and collaboration between the counselor and client. The capacity and motivation for change comes from within the client, and the client has the autonomy to maintain their current level of functioning or strive for something different. Jaime believes that her role as a therapist is to evoke those desires for improvement or a better quality of life and to empower her clients to utilize the strengths and gifts that they already possess in order to realize their goals.
When deciding on a name for her practice, Jaime landed on Through Deep Waters because it is a reference to God's promise to be by our side and never abandon us even as we pass through the deepest of waters. He can calm any storm, part any sea, and comfort us no matter how rocky and tumultuous the waves may be!
Please note that people of all faiths, backgrounds, and walks of life will be respected, valued, and welcomed with open arms. Spirituality will only be discussed upon the client's request.
