My Little Family/ Life update
This summer was wonderful and full of adventure for my little family. We started out with a family camping trip in the cascades. The picture above was our little campsite. This trip was a frist for us and it was fun exploring the countless lakes and getting to catch trout in these lakes. In addition, we got to take a group of students from our church to Ohio which was also a first and a blast. Overall, our summer was refreshing but I am excited for the new school year as a second year educator. If you have any questions about the upcoming school year feel free to reach out on parent square or at my email justin.coon@threerivers.k12.or.us.
My teaching philosophy:
First and formost, people matter. I believe every human is created in the image of God and has intrinsic value. Because of this, I believe I have been called to demonstrate care, love, and value to everyone I come in contact with. As a result of this I believe that learning is done best in relationships. My goal as a health and P.E. teacher is to develop deep relationships with students so that their learning experience is the best that it can be.
My Education:
I am a high school graduate of Ocean Breeze Baptist School in Tillamook, OR. After High School I went to Northwest University where I earned a certificate in Ministry Leadership. From there I transferred to Southern Oregon University. At SOU I completed my bachelor's degree in Health and P.E., while wrestling for the SOU wrestling team. I am currently finishing up my Maters Degree in Teaching through George Fox University.
My Passion:
Growing up I have always had a passion for exercise and the outdoors. Growing up on the coast in Oregon I was blessed with a plethora of outdoor activities. I spent extensive amounts of time surfing, boating, diving, fishing, hiking and hunting in an effort to experience all the outdoors had to offer. In addition to the outdoor activities, I spent much of my time competing in baseball, football, and wrestling. Because of these experiences I have been drawn to the Health and P.E. world. Through these experiences I developed an appreciation for having a healthy body. This appreciation has fueled my passion to help students see the importance of taking care of their bodies so that they are able to do the things they enjoy most.
