Expected Duration: 30 Minutes // Deadline: July 18th, 2017 (GMT 20:00)
This task will help you gain insight into preconceived notions of what people think of Botswana and what they feel you may experience during your travels. Pre-trip interviews will shed light on how well-aligned your thoughts are to those who currently surround you and prepare you for wonderful conversations upon your return. After your seven weeks in Botswana, you will want to share and connect with family and friends, and true connection starts with listening and understanding your audience. We want you to get curious about others in your community and try to understand what they think, feel, and know about your upcoming host country.
Please complete this assignment first. Asking the interview questions before diving into your Botswana reading list or completing your other online assignments, limits newly acquired knowledge from slipping into your interviews.
You are to use the five questions below to interview two family members and two friends.
These interviews are to be recorded in an audio or video format and safely stored for later use.

During the term, you will begin to collect data on yourself through weekly video journals that are 90 seconds in length. Upon your return home you will be asked to record yourself answering the same five questions you posed to your family and friends in the pre-trip interviews. Your final task will be to produce a final reflection piece using the Pre-trip interviews, the weekly video journals, and the post-trip self interview. This final video piece should be between 3-4 minutes in length.
These videos will be shared online amongst your peers and used for the first lesson of the Cultural Intelligence series of InsideOut in Term Two.
