ABOUT TRIBE BASEBALL
This season marks the 9th year of Tribe Baseball — and we're proud of every class of young men we've had the privilege of coaching along the way.
As an organization, we've worked with teams from 9U to 16U, and our coaching staff brings experience at every level — from youth baseball all the way through collegiate, Minor League, and MLB coaching. We don't just know the game. We know how to develop players within it.
Developing young men of character is the heartbeat of everything we do at SA Tribe Baseball. Before we talk about wins, tournaments, or skill development — we talk about who these young men are becoming. We hold our players to a high standard on the field, in the dugout, and in life. That standard doesn't waver, and it's what we're most proud of after eight years of doing this.
Every coach in our organization has played at the collegiate level or beyond, and our commitment to quality coaching goes beyond the game itself. This season we're proud to field a staff that brings not only deep baseball knowledge, but a genuine investment in each player's growth as an athlete and as a person. From team practices to individualized instruction through our Roving Coaches, every player in our program will be seen, developed, and challenged.
Play with Purpose.
COACHING STAFF
COACH NICK VERA
Founder/Head of Operations
Head Coach - 12U
Coach Nick spent his college days playing at Trinity University in San Antonio where he graduated in 2007 and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in the Cardinals organization for 3 years and had the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches and players in all of baseball.
He then moved back to San Antonio and began his coaching career at Trinity University serving as the team's hitting coach as well as strength and conditioning coach. His collegiate coaching career also included coaching in the New York Collegiate Baseball League as an assistant and in the Florida Collegiate Summer League as a head coach.
In 2017, Coach Nick transitioned into coaching youth baseball and started Tribe Baseball. He is passionate about helping players develop not only on the field but also as young men of character.
Outside of the baseball field he co-owns a local gym (The Tribe Fitness) alongside his wife, Chelsea, and has two daughters (Mylah and Charleigh) and a son (Jediah).
COACH SCOTT PETERSEN
General Manager
Head Coach - 12U
Coach Scott is returning for his second season with our Tribe organization.
Scott played baseball for 18 years, climbing to the D3 collegiate level. He's traveled all over our country and internationally as a player. He earned the right to represent the US in an international tournament in Beijing, China when He was 12 years old, which is a highlight for me.
Coach Scott was recruited out of California at the Stanford baseball camp by Trinity and have been living in Texas ever since. He was fortunate enough to play at Trinity for all 4 years and experience that high level of baseball.
As far as coaching experience, he's been coaching on and off since I was a teenager, instructing players from ages anywhere 7-18.
Coach Scott's motivation to get back into coaching is because he knows personally how much having a good or even a bad coach can have an impact on a kid's life. He was lucky enough to have some really amazing coaches that shaped who he is today, and if he can help be that coach for someone, his goal is accomplished.
COACH JAMES NITTOLI
Head Coach - 13U
This will be the second season for Coach James as a part of our SA Tribe Coaching Staff. Last season, he led his team to a league championship in the Fall season ending tournament and he's coming back to continue working and building on the foundation he laid with that age group.
James graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 2015. He was a starting pitcher for the varsity baseball team from 2013-2015.
Following high school, he attended the University of Texas at Austin in 2016 and was redshirted on the baseball team.
Following his one year at UT, he transferred to Trinity University where he was a starting pitcher on the baseball team from 2017 – 2021.
James graduated with his Master’s degree in accounting and works for EY. He loves the game of baseball, being part of a team, and is excited to get into coaching.
COACH ERIC IGLESIAS
Head Coach - 9U
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Coach Eric discovered his passion for baseball at a young age. After moving to Florida at the age of 12, he continued to develop his skills and played competitively throughout high school. His dedication to the game earned Eric the opportunity to play collegiate baseball at both North Greenville University (NGU) and Southeastern University (SEU). Baseball has played a major role in shaping who he is both on and off the field. Today, while Eric works as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) supporting individuals with their mental health, coaching baseball remains one of his greatest passions. Coach Eric has been married to his wife Brooke for over 10 years and they have two amazing kids, Noah and Dilan.
