At The TOP pediatric occupational therapy, we help children with developmental challenges overcome skill deficits or adapt tasks to better participate in all aspects of daily life. We focus on prompt delivery of exceptional care, provided by a licensed occupational therapist, without lengthy wait lists. Our treatment approach empowers clients and their families to implement home care strategies with periodic follow-up instead of utilizing continuous plans spanning long durations.
HOW Can We Help Your Child?
Pediatric occupational therapy can help children with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, developmental delay, lack of coordination, muscle weakness, cerebral palsy, brachial plexus injury, Down Syndrome, stroke, spina bifida, genetic conditions, ADHD, and traumatic brain injury. Therapy can also be helpful to any child experiencing unique challenges to engaging in every day tasks.
At The TOP occupational therapy, you can be seen without delay. Since 2021, Indiana direct access allows you to see an occupational therapist without a referral. You may receive care for 42 days before physician follow-up is required.
Does your child demonstrate difficulty coordinating fine hand movements?
Examples include challenges with using scissors, handwriting, opening packages, eating with a utensil, buttoning clothes, using zippers, tying shoes/drawstrings, picking up small items, using both hands at once, or using an immature/awkward pencil grasp.
Does your child seem to struggle with hand-eye coordination or using visual information to guide motor skills?
Examples of such challenges include difficulty staying inside the lines when coloring, copying shapes or letters from the board, poor handwriting, reversing letters, difficulty with catching or kicking a ball, and difficulty completing puzzles.
Does your child have anxiety or meltdowns when experiencing certain sensations (vision, hearing, smell, taste, and/or touch)?
Examples include covering ears due to loud noises, covering eyes due to light, purposefully bumping into items, excessively picky eating habits, sensitivity to odors, avoiding physical touch, putting inedible items in mouth, being distressed by certain clothing textures, needing to be in constant motion, sleeping difficulties, looking at items out of the corner of eyes, and displaying unusual self-soothing techniques such as head-banging, hand flapping, and spinning.
Does your child have physical, mental, behavioral, or emotional impairments that complicate his or her participation in activities of daily living?
Therapy can explore strategies and modifications to help him or her to bathe, toilet, dress, eat, feed, groom, play, interact socially, and participate in education.
