How can I let school know if I have concerns about my child's progress?
In the first instance, parents are asked to make direct contact, usually by email, with the SEND team, Mrs Wiley (SENDCo) and Mrs Frankham (Assistant SENDCo).
If your child is already on the SEND register, you could also contact their Keyworker.
Some concerns are also identified through parent communication with the Year Team or the child's Form Tutor who will then either share with the SEND team or direct parents to make contact.Â
How will the school let me know if they have any concerns about my child's learning in school?
Staff may also raise concerns about a child's learning through regular assessments of progress. They may identify if a student:
Works at a significantly slower pace than their peers
Fails to match or better previous rate of progress
Fails to close the attainment gap between themselves and peers
Widens the attainment gap
This may include progress in areas other than attainment, for example, social needs.
Not all students identified as making slow progress or with low attainment will be recorded as having SEND.
If a child is identified as having SEND, contact with parents will be made as well as a SSP (SEND Student Profile) created to share barriers and strategies with teaching staff.
