III. Purchasing Recital Tickets Q & A:

When & How?

Tickets will go on sale online via the Focal Center beginning May 15 at 1:00 pm.  Tickets will be on sale online right up through show time, so anyone wanting to purchase tickets “at the door” will be directed to this website.

How do I know what show my child is in when purchasing tickets?

Click HERE to review your child’s showtime (this information has also been in the April and May newsletters). Please ensure you purchase tickets for the correct show.

Can I exchange my tickets if I purchase for the wrong show?

FoCAL's policy is that all tickets are final sale.  No refunds or exchanges are permitted.  Please click HERE to review your child’s showtime(s) before purchasing to ensure you buy tickets for the correct show(s).

What if my dancer(s) is in more than one show?

Most dancers with more than one class will likely be in separate shows to avoid unnecessary quick changes.  Audience members will need to purchase tickets for each show they plan to attend.

Is there a ticket limit?

No!  We are excited for all our dancers’ family and friends to be able to attend.  Children 2 and under that sit on a lap do not need a ticket.  Dancers do not need a ticket for the show(s) they are performing in, but they will need a ticket for any shows they choose to attend to support siblings or friends.

How much will tickets cost?

Tickets will be sold at tiered pricing according to location. Prices will range from $15-$20 per ticket.

Will there be handicapped seats available?

FoCAL is ADA compliant with designated wheelchair spaces and wheelchair accessible walkways.  Pink Handicap transfer seats on the ends of the aisles have armrests that lift up to allow patrons to easily transfer from wheelchair to seat.  Blue Handicap designated seats are areas with removeable seats that allow for up to two wheelchairs to be side by side.

I did not receive a confirmation email.  Who do I contact?

Please contact FoCAL directly via f40486@forsyth.k12.ga.us

IV. Dress Rehearsal

When & Where?

Dress Rehearsals will take place Friday, May 24 at the FoCAL Center.

Entry into the facility for Dress rehearsal will be through the back doors by the Rehearsal Room.  Turn left down the first hallway, then take the second door on your right to enter the theater seating area.

Dancers need to be seated in their designated class area inside the theater on House Right no later than 10 minutes before their scheduled rehearsal block.  Photos of each classes costume will be taped to the end of the row so dancers know where to sit.

Click here to see a video of how to get to the back entrance.

How many people can come see the dress rehearsal?

As this is a continuous event throughout the day, we kindly ask that each dancer be accompanied by no more than two guests for the dress rehearsal.  This will help with crowd control and ensure that all guests have a seat in the main floor center section in front of the stage for the dress rehearsal.

Can I take photos or video tape at the dress rehearsal?

Yes!  You may do both at our dress rehearsals.  However, we would like to remind you that the theater is a flash-free zone for the safety of our dancers, and there is no videoing allowed on show day.  We will have a videographer and photographer at all of our shows so that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the magic on the stage.

What does my dancer wear?

All dancers will arrive at FoCAL dressed in full costume with accessories, correct tights, dance shoes, makeup, and hair ready to step on the stage.  If in more than one number, dancers must wear a skin colored camisole leotard (available on Discount Dance Supply or Amazon).  To view the costume checklist, click here. This checklist will continue to be updated as costumes come in. In addition, all costume garment bags have been labeled with required tights, shoes and hair.

What if my dancer has more than one costume for a particular show?

Dancers will come dressed in their first costume and bring their labeled garment bag(s) containing any additional costumes.  The dress rehearsal order is also the order of the show.  Dance shoes should be included in the bottom of the garment bag.  All costume pieces, tights, shoes, and the garment bag itself should be labeled with the dancer’s name or initials.  For ease of changing, dancers can also layer tights - wear the base layer under the camisole then the next pair of tights would be on top of the camisole.

Where can my dancer change costumes on dress rehearsal day?

Dancers will come dressed in their first costume and place additional LABELED items in the left side of the Rehearsal Room.  The right side will be used for Kaiko Guest Photography.  There are bathrooms directly across the hallway from this room.

FoCAL has asked us to remind all dancers and families that there is not to be any changing in the theater, front lobby, lobby bathrooms,  or hallways behind stage for safety reasons.

Any dancers with a costume change must wear a camisole for their safety as all areas are under video surveillance at all times.

V. Recital Day

Where will the recital be?

We are so excited to host our 34th annual recital at the FoCAL Center.

Where should I park on recital day?

There is plenty of parking in front of the FoCAL Center and the surrounding buildings for both dress rehearsal and recital days.  There is no charge to park.

Do I need to bring printed tickets to the recital?

Please have your recital tickets ready to present to our recital workers upon arrival. They will help direct you to your designated seating areas.  You may print your recital tickets or have them readily available by pulling them up on your phone or device.

When and where does my dancer need to arrive?

All dancers will arrive 30-45 minutes before their scheduled recital showtime. Dancers should be fully ready to dance in costume, with the correct dance shoes, tights, hair and makeup.

A table will be set up on the right ride of the lobby for Dancer Check In.

Dancers may only be dropped off 30-45 minutes prior to showtime to allow for transition times between each show.

Where will my dancer be during the show?

Dancers will be seated with their class in the Rehearsal Room behind stage until it is time for them to perform.   We are very excited our dancers will be able to watch the recital in real time on big screen TV's in the Rehearsal Room.  Dancers will be supervised by SSA recital volunteers and faculty at all times.

How will I pick up my dancer after the show?

Pick-up will be at the very end of the show. No dancers will be permitted to leave before the end of the show.  We generally have 100+ performers backstage at any given show, and this policy is necessary to keep track of all children in our care.  We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.  Dancers will stand for a final bow on the stage at the conclusion of the performance.  Then the dancers will be dismissed class by class into the audience.  In order to expedite this process, we ask that only ONE parent or guardian come forward to meet your dancer.  This process will be fairly quick, but may take several minutes. Please be patient with our recital workers and staff. As always, dancer safety is our top priority during the drop-off and pick-up process.

Will parents be allowed in the backstage area?

No parents will be allowed in the backstage area.  SSA recital volunteers and faculty will assist all dancers backstage with any of their needs. Parents are asked to stay in the audience and enjoy the show!

What if my dancer has more than one routine?

If your dancer has more than one routine, SSA’s recital volunteers will assist them in preparing for their next dance. Dancers with more than one routine in a show will need to bring all additional costumes, accessories, tights and shoes with them in a labeled garment bag.  Volunteers will hang this garment bag in the hallway in show order to help prepare for as quick and smooth a change as possible.

What if my dancer is in more than one show?

Dancers that take multiple classes are most likely performing in different shows.  Each of our recital shows run just under 80 minutes in length.  At the conclusion of each show, it will take a minimum of 20-30 minutes to dismiss the dancers from the stage and clear the entire theater to prepare for the next show.  If your dancer is performing in the next show, depending on how quickly you exit the theater, dancers will have time to grab a quick bite to eat, visit the restroom, change costumes, and get back in line at the dancer check in area by 30 minutes till.  FoCAL has tables and soft seating in the lobby perfect for eating packed lunches and/or snacks.  Please note that SSA does not permit food or drinks (other than water) in the backstage areas.
