The power of this campaign is in the broad and diverse coalition we've built. Together, we have achieved more in the last three years than any of us could have done alone.
In September 2023, we launched our joint open letter to the Prime Minister with 100+ civil society leaders calling for Free School Meals for All. In 2024, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan extended Free School Meals to all primary school children across London for good. In 2025, nearly 80 MPs backed an amendment put forward to include Free School Meals for All in the Children's Wellbeing Bill.
Today, more than 300+ civil society groups and leaders have come together to sign our open letter to the Prime Minister and back this demand.ย
That includes charities, medical bodies, unions, councils, mayors, community organisations, faith leaders and many more.ย
When new partners join the coalition, they get:
Listed on our website as a coalition memberย
Receive regular email updates about campaign progress and invitations to strategy briefings
Resources to engage their members, networks and communities on this issue
Opportunities to get involved and show support through events, actions and moreย
Help bring more schools, community groups, charities, health providers, faith-based organisations on board. Use this toolkit to outreach to your networks to grow the call for Free School Meals for All.
Every relationship and meaningful conversation nudges us closer to change, inspiring hearts and minds to take action.ย
That's why we're asking you to leverage networks and connections to recruit more organisations to add their name to the open letter. These might be organisations or civil society leaders you've worked with closely before, perhaps you have access to relevant message boards or newsletters, or to a network through your workplace,ย
Organisations and groups you could consider approaching include:
Schools
Local councils
Local businesses
Trade unions
Sports centres or clubs
Faith leaders and organisationsย
Charities and service delivery organisations
MPs and Peers in your network
This document contains a template email and sample post for an online forum or newsletter to help you recruit more organisations into our coalition. It has all the talking points you need about why this issue matters.ย
Make it more impactful by personalising it or arranging a follow up call or meeting to discuss any questions and make sure your partner or civil society organisation is aware of how to sign up.
For some partners, it might be helpful to arrange a follow up meeting or call to discuss the campaign, depending on their connection to the issue.ย
This guide contains suggestions and tips for calling or meeting with a partner organisation about the campaign.
Use our speaking notes to help inspire another organisation to join the coalition.
When an organisation is ready to add their name and join the coalition, please send them to this sign up page.ย
This helps us keep track of the organisations that have added their name to the coalition.ย
Please make sure you send people to this page instead of the public-facing open letter on our website, which is for individual supporters.
NB: If you are an individual supporter who is not signing on behalf of an organisation, please add your name via the 'Take Action' page on our website.ย
We update the list of signatories on our website intermittently.
But you can view this table to see our most up-to-date list, and check if the groups you've been recruiting have joined.
If you know of individuals in your community who would be interested in signing the open letter, we have prepared resources to support you to collect signatures on this page.
