Weclome! We are excited that you are interested in becoming a member of the OSDA, and we will strive to help you along the way. A variety of resources are provided here. Additionally, please contact us, and we will both help your onboarding process and provide you with a mentor coach!
We strongly recommend you contact us first! That way, we know you are interested in registering a new member school to compete in the OSDA. Once you check in with us, we will coordinate putting you in contact with your likely OSDA District Chair (geographic regions) as well as a potential mentor coach. Those individuals will be instrumental both in helping onboard you to the OSDA experience as well as being helpful resources for questions and advice throughout the season!
An approved coach (likely the head coach) must be the one to register for OSDA membership.
All of the team's administratively approved coaches must be listed in the team's registration process with the OSDA. This is essential for us to verify the "Coach in Charge" is present at tournaments.
SpeechWire is the online vendor we use to coordinate, register for, and conduct tournaments throughout the season. All member schools need a team SpeechWire account and use it regularly!
The account must be created and only used by administratively approved coaches (adults) for the team. Students cannot have access to the team's SpeechWire account.
Once you have set up your team's SpeechWire Account, you can register for tournaments.
We certainly understand that there is a lot to learn for those new to Speech & Debate!
The video included here provides a helpful initial session for new coaches.
If you are a potential new coach at a new member school, please contact us, and we will help guide your onboarding process to the OSDA throughout the season!
