Web Addresses and Search Bar

Every website has a web address or Uniform Resource Locator (or URL for short) that is kind of like your home address. Your home address tells people who want to visit you how to find your house!

You can use an URL to tell the Internet browser where you want to go on the World Wide Web! The address bar to find a website's URL for Google is located at the top of the browser window.

Answer the questions in the purple box below.

Now, you are going to practice typing an address in the address bar on your browser. Follow the steps below.

1. Open a new tab.
2. Click the address bar.
3. If there is an address already in it, click in the address bar and use your backspace key to erase the address.
4. Next, type in www.sixflags.com, then press the enter button on your keyboard.
5. Use your BACK navigation button to return to this page, then go to number 6.
6. Now open another new tab and enter the following web address: www.abcya.com. Return to this page after you have opened the Nickolodean website.
7. Your browser (Google) window should now have 3 open tabs.
