ABOUT THE TITLE AND THE EXHIBIT

THE TITLE

Initially, the title was derived from the word "image" that pertains to the imagery of both what we see and interpret in relation to self-knowledge. In the Tagalog language, "imahe" refers to "tingin," "nakikita," and "ipinakikitang imahe" associated with oneself (self-image).

It is intentional to have the letters "I," "M," and "H" capitalized to emphasize the other succeeding words: IM = Me, My Identity; He = Heritage. Hence, "I am my heritage" connotes an outcome of a previous existence, influence, or way of life that can serve as a contribution and be passed on.

THE EXHIBIT

Showcased here are the works of Meridian students that depict what is ours as Filipinos. The art-making process reminded the younger generation of what they may have forgotten. The subject matter was derived from previous and newly introduced classroom lessons to raise awareness and ignite appreciation of our country's cultural heritage.
