Parliament is the part of the government that makes the country’s laws. It forms one of the three branches of the government.
The 3 branches of government are:
Legislature - this is made up of Parliament. They make laws to help run the country better and more fairly.
Executive - this is made up of the president, deputy president(s) and the cabinet (heads of various government departments such as education, health and finance departments). They are responsible for running the country and making decisions using the laws of the country.
Judiciary - this is made up of the courts of the justice system. They make sure that the country’s laws are obeyed.
