The EY libraries are for TKS students and staff, as well as parents of children enrolled in PK, KG, or G1 at TKS.
KAUST Community members may access the Harbor Community Library, as well as the Elementary School library (outside of school hours). See community posts in the Focus and on the portal for updates on those hours.
During the school year, parents of TKS students may borrow up to 10 books. These must be returned in good condition to the library they were borrowed from, within two weeks. The EY libraries have many children's picture books in English and Arabic, both in fiction and nonfiction. There are also books in other languages, as well as some books on parenting topics.
We also have large digital collection, which is further explained on our Digital Resources page. Visiting the library in person is not necessary to access the digital collection.
Each EY building has a central library and a lobby library that parents may borrow from.
Hours of operation:
7:45-3:00 Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
7:45-2:00 Tuesdays
Closed during school holidays and weekends
The library is open to parents in person on school days from 7:45-8:30am, coinciding with morning drop off. Other times may be possible upon arrangement with library staff (see the About Us page to find out how reach us).
Books can be returned in the drop-box conveniently located just inside the main entrance doors of the KG building.
During the school year, there is also the option for books to be requested online from home, and held at reception for pickup. More information is on the "Can I borrow remotely?" section.
Request a TKS parent library account. Please request this in advance to save time and to help the library team prepare for your visit, as it takes time to set up. If you have used our libraries before (in any division), you don't have to do this again.
Pick up your books when you visit the school (see Where and when above).
Return books in the drop box located at the entrance to the EY buildings, or in the library when you visit.
EY students are provided with one library bag to protect books when they are transported or taken home. This bag is to be used throughout the child's entire Early Years program. Please be sure that your child always returns his/her books in the bag. Children's bags must be returned to take out new books as the bag acts like a library card. The library bag will be collected at the end of each school year, and reissued to the next class. Library bags are not provided to adults.
The library does not charge a fine for each day past due. When books are overdue, an email will be sent to parents from our library system. Borrowing privileges can be restricted if items are not returned in a timely manner. Items will be considered lost if they have been overdue for two months. In order to avoid delays and restrictions, please return library books on time.
Please do not attempt to repair books at home, as the library has the materials to do reasonable repairs appropriately (simply communicate with the school, or send a note with the book). Please contact the library team if items have been lost, so we can support you and your child with next steps.
Items (books or bags) lost or damaged beyond reasonable use may result in a charge for a replacement, and further borrowing privileges may be restricted until the charges are paid. Please know the EY library cannot be responsible for items lost in the community, left on school buses, or returned to a different library from where the items originated from. You can view this information in the EY Parent Information Handbook linked here.
TKS Libraries have guidelines that inform how resources are added, withdrawn, and managed. Parents are welcome to review the guidelines here.
While the best way to become familiar with our resources would be to see them in person, you may instead prefer to request items online. When placed on hold using our system, these books will be located by our staff, and set aside for you to pick up. Please know our priority are our students and in-person visitors, and we will accommodate remote holds as time allows.
TKS Library Account: Please ensure you have an account. If you do not, click the button at the bottom of the page to request one. If you have used our libraries before (in any division), or are not sure if you have online access, click the help button below to contact the library team and request support.
