In 2006, I met a colleague at a school in Los Angeles that would a year later become my most important commitment in life. Mimi and I, are a dynamic parenting team with different upbringings but strongly shared the same core values. Our story is a romance of geographies. I grew up on the East Coast, Mimi on the West Coast and our love emerge out of connections to Brazil. Respectively, we named our two children Rio and Paz. As an exercise in We continue to triangulate our lives through rich cultural experiences and I am very proud of how we configured the last 13 years to be able to bring conscious and vibrant experiences to the family.
Paz is an active girl and in a wide range of ways. She enjoys competitive sport and loves basketball. As a swimmer, she has really taken to synchronized swimming.
Paz has been doing Bali Dance since we moved to Indonesia 8 years ago. One of the greatest compliments to not only her, but our family was to hear that she dances like a Balinese.
Paz has grown up in three different countries (going on her forth) and yes this has been shaping of her adaptable personality, but she embraces exploration with an innate sensibility. She is by far a better traveler than I and holds a firm position as a savvy global citizen.
Paz is an active girl and in a wide range of ways. She enjoys competitive sport and loves basketball. As a swimmer, she has really taken to synchronized swimming.
Marimba integral part of the green school experience. It is an absolute honor to learn from Ibu Jan. She is a prominent figure in the Zimbabwean art form. It is music that has so much upbeat energy and brings community together.
Rio loves to get dirty and the garden is a favorite place for him to get his surplus of energy out. His greatest harvest to date are these gourds.
The little fella continues to blow us away with his uptake of languages. He completes my sentences sometimes and his idioms are frighteningly on the mark.
He has a long way to go, but I have to say when you put him on a task he sets to it. Never to early to start helping with the Bio Bus!
Mimi loves to love life and reminds us regularly that we need to laugh in life. She likes to have a good time and this brings joy to our family and so many more. She is not afraid to think big and fills us all excitement for life's possibilities.
Mimi is a committed mother with a special instinct of fairness and ability to instill values without being over the top. She is tough when she needs to be and always loving to us all. Our kids could not have a stronger human and female role model to raise them.
Mimi has a nose for finding the greatest gifts on earth. She sees the magnificence in nature and recognizes the depth and beauty of culture. The last 13 years of our lives have been rich with the experiences that I would not trade for anything. She teaches us how to be respectful and inspires us to learn.
