π Reading, Sight Words & Literacy (Common Core)
We use explicit, science-of-reading strategies to transition students from letter mechanics into confident early decoding and fluent reading.
Phonics & Handwriting: Mastering all 26 uppercase and lowercase letters, their proper fine-motor stroke formations, and their primary sounds.
Sight Word Engine: Conquering a comprehensive 180-lesson, rapid-recognition matrix of high-frequency sight words (covering Dolch and Fry foundations) integrated with weekly public school spelling cycles (Intro, Triple-Write, Look-Cover-Write, Mock Trial, Test).
Writing & Grammar: Using a mix of drawing, dictating, and phonetic spelling to tell stories, identify sentence architecture (nouns, verbs, adjectives), master proper nouns, write addresses, and construct story maps across real children's literature.
π’ Mathematics (Common Core)
Our math focus is entirely on building deep "number sense," active logic, and spatial confidence across an intensive 180-lesson active trail sequenceβdone entirely on simple paper with real physical counters.
Counting & Quantity: Counting to 100 by ones and tens; reading, writing, and visually tracking numbers 0 to 20; and mastering place value with teen numbers (10 plus ones).
Early Operations: Mastering basic addition (putting together) and subtraction (taking away) for numbers up to 10 through word problems, number partners, and friends of 10.
Geometry & Measurement: Identifying, sorting, and comparing 2D and 3D flat and solid shapes (squares, spheres, cubes, triangles), measuring length/weight, identifying coins, reading time to the hour, and graphing data.

Science at High Hopes Academy is highly interactive, driven by observation, and brought to life through 36 dedicated weekly modules and simple household or backyard laboratory experiments.
Forces & Energy: Investigating the physics of pushes, pulls, gravity, magnets, light, shadows, and sound vibrations.
Ecosystems & Habitats: Discovering what plants and animals need to survive, exploring habitats from oceans to the Arctic, and studying animal classifications (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, insects).
Weather & Earth: Tracking weather patterns, cloud types, the 4 seasons, states of matter (solids, liquids, gases), and our solar system.

Mediums & Techniques: Experiencing hands-on artistic techniques from wax relief and leaf printing to 3D clay sculptures, paper chains, origami, and mosaic collages.
Color Theory & Design: Masterfully blending primary color formulas to discover secondary shade transitions, warm/cool color palettes, line types, textures, and symmetry.
Master Artist Series: Drawing inspiration from famous artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Mondrian, Matisse, Picasso, and Kandinsky.

Our 36-lesson music module trains the ear and the mind by exploring the engineering, sounds, and rhythms of the global orchestra.
Musical Elements: Exploring high vs. low pitch, dynamics (loud vs. soft), tempo (fast vs. slow), quarter notes, eighth notes, rests, and Do-Re-Mi scales.
Instrument Families: Navigating the unique sounds and blueprints of Percussion, Strings, Woodwinds, and Brass, while building homemade instruments like shaker eggs and kitchen drum kits.
Composers & World Rhythms: Listening to legendary compositions from Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Vivaldi, alongside jazz, scat singing, Caribbean steel drums, and Irish jigs.
