You are an important part of your child's IEP Team!
Your voice matters and we want to hear your input, answer your questions, and ensure that you are fully aware of your rights and your role in all parts of the process.
The EC Parent Handbook outlines policies governing services for children with disabilities. This resource will help you understand all of your rights and your child's rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). One important right to be aware of is that parents/ legal guardians may refer their child for evaluations to determine if they are eligible for special education if they suspect their child has a disability. At The Expedition School, parent referrals for evaluations should be sent to EC Director, Julie McCauley at juliemccauley@theexpeditionschool.com.

We offer the full continuum of special education and related services to meet the unique needs of our students in their least restrictive environment. We collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, families, and related service providers, to educate students with disabilities along side their non-disabled peers, to the greatest extent possible. We strive to provide the supports needed for students to access the general curriculum and to feel successful as members of their classroom community- academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
We embrace and celebrate neurodiversity at The Expedition School! With a focus on student strengths and one of our core values being a "Growth Mindset," we strive to help all students gain the grit to strive for high expectations using their unique abilities and interests. The research supports the use of project based learning for neuro-diverse learners, and we see the evidence of that in our project work at TES.
