PICK UP/DROP OFF PROCEDURE Show 2-6

Drop off before recital - Please arrive stage ready in 1st costume

1. Check in area will be clearly marked.

2. Your child should be wearing their appropriate show number/color bracelet.

*Please do not cover the numbers when applying the bracelet.

3. Please have one person (must be a female parent or guardian) bring your child to the check in table wearing the parent/guardian bracelet. 

4. The person who dropped your child off must be the person who picks them up. Dancers ages 12+ may dismiss themselves.

*All dancers will be released after BOWS. Out of respect for all dancers and to make sure we have adequate safety at all times DANCERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE DISMISSED EARLY.

3+ Dances- 45 minutes prior to showtime

1-2 Dances- 30 minutes prior to showtime


Only TDC STAFF, RECITAL VOLUNTEERS, and DANCERS are allowed backstage NO EXCEPTIONS! This is for the safety of all of our dancers - please respect this policy. Try to prepare your child ahead of time that you will not be allowed backstage with them. If any child is upset TDC staff will gladly assist in this transition process from Parent to Backstage. Staff will be clearly marked with colored shirts, students assistants will be wearing colored necklaces.

Pick Up after Recital

Please practice patience here as this is to ensure the safety of all of our students. Do not rush backstage to pick up your child. We will need time to get dancers back to their area and gather their belongings. Do not attempt to pick your child up from the stage area.

1. Go to the same location where you dropped your child off and form a line. Only parents with a bracelet will be allowed backstage. Dancers will be lined up and ready to check out, please note your belongings and costumes will need to be collected by parents. 

2. Once you have gathered your child's belongings and you are ready to leave please kindly wait in line as each parent and child’s number will need to be checked as they leave. IF YOUR NUMBER DOES NOT MATCH YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE A CHILD!!!!!!!!!

Please ask the rest of your family members to wait in the lobby or the auditorium with your cooperation. This process will be smooth and organized and move quickly.


bracelet procedure - VERY IMPORTANT!


Each recital show will be assigned a color and students will receive a corresponding colored bracelet. Bracelets MUST be worn to the recital venue and during the entire show.  Bracelets may be picked up at the TDC office during office hours after May 30, 2023.


On each bracelet will be the number(s) of your dancer's performance(s) in the show (see "Which Show Am I In" on the recital website for the performance numbers) as well as a unique security number for your child.  


FOR STUDENTS UNDER AGE 12:  One female* parent or caregiver will be given a bracelet with a security number that matches their child's bracelet.  Please be sure that this bracelet is worn at the time of check in.  TDC Staff will use this bracelet to check your child in and out of the backstage area.


FOR STUDENTS AGE 12 AND OVER:  Parents will not be given a matching bracelet.  The dancer will still receive a bracelet and they must wear this during the show.  This means that the student may check themself in (and, more importantly out) of the backstage area.  In this case, you will meet your child in the lobby following the show.  If your child is age 12 and over and you wish to be allowed backstage at the end of the show, please request a parent bracelet from the TDC office.  No one will be allowed backstage without a bracelet.


At the end of the show, the parent wearing the bracelet will line up in a designated area and ONLY THIS person will be allowed backstage to meet their student.  Upon leaving the backstage area, TDC staff will recheck bracelets and confirm matching security numbers.


*PLEASE NOTE - for privacy reasons/costume changes backstage, we ask that the parent or caregiver wearing the bracelet and checking the child in and out is female.


If your child is in more than one show, they will need to change bracelets between shows to be sure that their bracelet color matches the show in which they are performing.

if your dancer is only in the opening number

Dancers registered for Opening Number can perform in any of the 6 recital shows. If they are ONLY performing in Opening Number in any given show, they will not require a colored security bracelet. There will be a location marked at the recital for these dancers to go to upon arrival.  Parents will drop their dancers off in this location during check in AND pick their dancers up directly after the Opening Number performance at the same location. TDC staff will not be responsible for these dancers - so please decide and plan accordingly.  


If a dancer is in Opening Number and ANY other performance in a show, they will need a security bracelet, they will check in/out as normal and they will remain backstage for the entire show.  


Back Stage FAQs

Who watches my dancer backstage?

We have enlisted the help of many of our studio mothers as well as alumni and TDC staff who will attend a backstage meeting to ensure backstage is organized and safe for the entire event. If we are in need of more and you are interested please let us know. Backstage doors will be locked and no one will be able to enter other than through the front entrance.

What does my dancer do backstage?

Children will have the opportunity to watch the show via closed circuit TV if the video company can get it to work depending on location. In addition we will provide coloring books and games for entertainment.

Does my dancer need to stay the entire show?

For the safety and security of all of our dancers YES DANCERS MUST REMAIN THE ENTIRE SHOW!  Our number one priority is SAFETY therefore we are unable to release children after they dance. And out of fairness to ALL of the dancers and parents committing to recital, please do not request for your child to be let out early as we can not allow this request.

Where do I pick up my dancer?

Pick up and drop off will be clearly marked when you arrive. 

How will you notify me should a problem arise? 

You can put your cell phone number on their bracelet if room allows. We will have a print out of where everyone is sitting.

Can we bring food or drink? 

The dancers in the Show 3-6  we encourage you to bring CLEAN and MESS FREE and NUT FREE snacks or meals especially if in multiple show. PLEASE NOTIFY US IF YOUR CHILD HAS AN ALLERGY.  Audience members can purchase baked goodies from our bake sale at Intermission. Please send tiny dancers with full bellies and food will not be available backstage.

Will there be food sold? 

Yes! The TDC dance team hosts a fabulous bake sale every year! Water and bagged snacks are available at the ticket counter.

Will I be able to buy gifts and flowers? 

Spirit wear, water bottles, and some flowers and gifts are sold.
