He focuses on helping small and medium-sized enterprises grow by improving their people, processes, and tools through the lenses of innovation, strategic execution, and leadership development. Dr. Tyson earned his doctorate in business and technology with a specialization in strategy and innovation and was the recipient of the 2018 Wall Street Journal Business Leader Award. He currently serves as the Director of One Million Cups Prince George's County, a program dedicated to helping entrepreneurs thrive.

Nia Brown is an award-winning author and the founder of Adult Wannabe LLC, a platform designed to help people navigate adulthood with clarity and confidence. Leveraging her background in journalism and an MBA in marketing, she is a passionate storyteller committed to personal and community empowerment. Driven by her experiences in Baltimore, she focuses on providing essential life skills education to break generational cycles and foster transformational growth within underrepresented communities.

Leslie Jefferson

Program Officer with the Greater Washington Community Foundation

Leslie Jefferson is a Program Officer with the Greater Washington Community Foundation, working at the intersection of community voice and philanthropic action. Her portfolio includes Voices DMV the Foundation’s signature community listening initiative alongside financial empowerment, asset-building, and grantmaking for regional priorities like food insecurity and education.

Before this, Leslie was a Development Officer at The Brookings Institution, raising funds for research like the Latino Wealth Initiative, and managed sponsored research grants at Georgetown University. She built the foundation of her career over nearly twelve years at The SEED School of Maryland in student, family, and community engagement roles.

Leslie is also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy, teaching Nonprofit Fundraising and Leadership, and a doctoral student at Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, researching representation in the field. Additionally, she serves as Board Chair for NPN DC, the District’s network for nonprofit professionals.

As the founder of JNM NETWORKS, Jamel is dedicated to helping individuals and communities grow through mentorship, leadership, entrepreneurship, and faith-based encouragement. Having overcome the challenges of incarceration, Jamel has transformed his life into a testimony of resilience, purpose, and redemption. Today, he serves as a mentor for juveniles as a sergeant volunteer through the Attorney General’s Office program, where he helps guide young people toward positive decision-making and personal growth. As a panel speaker, Jamel brings authenticity, wisdom, and encouragement that resonates deeply with today’s youth, inspiring them to believe that their past does not define their future.

Phillip Yarborough

Phillip Yarborough is a seasoned educator and administrator with 26 years of experience, including 13 years in leadership roles. Currently serving in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), he has spent his career as a staunch advocate for Systemic Equity, focusing on expanding opportunities for Black and Brown students. He is known for piloting transformative programs centered on literacy and holistic well-being. Driven by a mission to bridge the gap between policy and students' lived experiences, he prioritizes inclusive environments and social-emotional health as the foundation for sustainable academic success.
