Anyone who missed the professional development time was emailed the slides and recording in the daily bulletin so that they also had access to the meeting.
There are 55 teachers on the Commodore staff. Four teachers participated in the "Simple Strategies for Green Classrooms" professional development on January 13. This session was offered by Diane Lill of the Audubon Naturalist Society.

3 teachers participated on January 27, 2022 in a repeat session of the "Simple Strategies for Green Classrooms" professional development. Ms. Duprey is a kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hernandez is a 4th grade special educator and Mr. Walter is a 6th grade math teacher.
At the conclusion of the session, teachers were asked to choose one strategy that they learned about that they planned to implement in their classroom. This screen shot shows teacher commitments.
2 staff members participated on February 10, 2022 in the "Understanding Climate Crisis" professional development. Ms. Vedral is the school social worker and Ms. Heid is a middle school special educator. During this professional development content knowledge about Climate Crisis was gained to increase teacher comfort conveying Climate Crisis information to students. Many resources were also shared that provide interaction and visuals to help students of all ages understand the climate crisis.
During the 2018-2019 school year, Ms. Heid, Middle School Special Educator, participated in a yearlong travel sabbatical during which she studied how various nonprofits around the country and world were teaching communities about sustainability. At the left is a photo of a community bird house making event in Lisbon, Portugal that she was able to participate in. It is followed by an article for the non profit group's newsletter that she wrote which reflects on some of her time in Lisbon.
