11:00 am -12:00 pmWelcome to our Musical Theater Workshop, where the magic of storytelling, music, and dance come together on stage! This class is designed to provide aspiring young performers with a comprehensive introduction to the world of musical theater. Through a blend of acting, singing, and dancing, students will have the opportunity to explore the unique art form of musical theater and develop their skills in performance, expression, and collaboration.
Key Learning Objectives:
Acting Techniques: Learning the fundamentals of acting, character development, and stage presence specific to musical theater performance.
Vocal Training: Developing vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch, tone, and expression, to confidently sing solo and ensemble numbers.
Musical Interpretation: Exploring the storytelling aspects of musical numbers, understanding character motivations, emotions, and narrative arcs within songs.
Dance Skills: Learning choreography, rhythm, coordination, and expression through dance routines and ensemble numbers.
Audition Preparation: Understanding the audition process, selecting appropriate audition material, and honing audition skills for musical theater productions.
Stagecraft: Exploring stage blocking, movement, and spatial awareness in the context of musical theater staging and performance.
Characterization: Developing dynamic characters through vocal, physical, and emotional expression, and learning how to convey depth and authenticity in performance.
Collaboration and Ensemble Work: Emphasizing teamwork, cooperation, and ensemble building in the context of musical theater production, including scene work and group numbers.
Class Structure:
Each session will include warm-up exercises, vocal and physical conditioning, technique drills, rehearsal of scenes and musical numbers, and choreography practice.
Students will work on solo and ensemble pieces from a variety of musical theater genres, including classic and contemporary Broadway shows.
The course may culminate in a showcase or performance where students can demonstrate their skills and talents to friends, family, and the community.
Requirements:
Prior experience in theater, singing, or dance is helpful but not required. This class is open to students of all skill levels who have a passion for musical theater.
Participants should come prepared to actively engage in all aspects of the workshop, including singing, dancing, and acting.
Comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for movement and dance are recommended.
