• Exploring Literary Genres: Introducing students to various genres of creative writing, including fiction, poetry, memoir, creative nonfiction, and more.

• Crafting Compelling Characters: Learning how to develop believable characters with depth, complexity, and unique voices, and understanding their motivations, conflicts, and arcs.

• Building Engaging Plots: Mastering the art of storytelling, including plot structure, pacing, tension, and plot twists, to keep readers engaged from beginning to end.

• Setting and World-Building: Creating vivid and immersive settings that serve as the backdrop for compelling narratives, using sensory details and descriptive language to bring them to life.

• Exploring Point of View and Voice: Experimenting with different narrative perspectives and voices, understanding their impact on storytelling, and finding your own distinctive voice as a writer.

• Writing Techniques and Style: Developing writing techniques such as imagery, metaphor, simile, symbolism, dialogue, and narrative techniques to enhance the richness and depth of your writing.

• Revision and Editing: Learning the importance of revision and self-editing, refining and polishing your writing through feedback, critique, and revision exercises.

Class Structure:

Requirements:

• A notebook or laptop for writing, as well as an open mind and a willingness to experiment and explore new ideas, are all that's needed.
