The Summer School is open to children between the ages of 7-13.

You do need your own instrument

You do need to have passed Grade 2 or equivalent on your instrument

Orchestral Course (2 Days)

Monday & Tuesday 29-30 July 2019

Classical Guitar (now closed) & Percussion Workshops

(1 Day) 0930-1600

Wednesday 31 July 2019

The Orchestral Course is NOT open to guitarists, harpists, drum kit, recorder players or pianists

A minimum standard of Grade 2 is required for the Orchestral Course and the Guitar Workshop

There is no minimum standard required for the Percussion Workshop

BCS Music Summer School is directed by Jeremy Nicklin, Director of Music at The Blue Coat School. Jeremy is assisted by a team of experienced specialist music teachers who are enthusiastic, full of energy, and deliver a great experience for each young musician.

The course lasts for 2 days (for orchestral instruments), and one day for the guitar and percussion workshops. The courses are fun and educational, giving every young player the chance to make new friends and make great music together.

Both courses culminate in a performance which is open to parents and friends.

The Summer School is non-residential and is open to young musicians aged between 7-13 yrs.

  • The courses run from 0930-1600 each day, with a morning and afternoon break.
  • The courses will conclude with a short recital to parents and friends.
