17th March 2025 - Deadline for accepting or declining the place via Surrey County Council
Mid March 2025 - Parents/carers will receive an email requesting an online enrolment form is completed. The information collected in this enrolment form allows us to set up an account for the student when they start in September and to collect valuable information on any medical, allergy and any SEND requirements alongside contact information.
During May - The Beacon School will endeavour to visit every student at their current primary school to discover more about each student, their likes and dislikes and any existing friendships to allow us to create our new form groups for the incoming students.
Transition Days for Students: This will take place on Tuesday 1 July and is the perfect way for students to get a feel for life at The Beacon School. Students will meet their form tutors and classmates in preparation for September. They will participate in a wide selection of activities from team building and a treasure hunt around the school, to subject-taster sessions in Science, Art, DT, Drama and English. Students will even have the opportunity to win Proud Points for their house.
Our aim is that students finish the transition day full of excitement for September. However, we also understand that some students may be anxious about moving to secondary school. To ensure that each child is aware of how and where to seek help at The Beacon School we introduce our Year 11 mentors, we also give lots of time for our future Year 7s to get to know their tutor team and some friendly faces around the school.
Transition Evening for Parents and Carers: This will take place on Tuesday 1 July at 6 pm and will provide you with the relevant information and expectations for the new academic year. The evening will consist of presentations from the Headteacher, Mr Grant Duff and the Head of Year 7. The evening is for the benefit of the parents/carers so we ask that students do not attend.
Summer School: As part of our Transition Festival, we are running a summer school on Monday 21 July 2025. This will be another fantastic opportunity for your child to attend school and meet students in their year group prior to them starting school on Tuesday 2 September 2025. Students will take part in a variety of fun activities to support them through their transition from Year 6 to 7. You will receive an email regarding this nearer the date.
