In April 2023, I was blessed with the opportunity to join Dr. Patricia Bailey’s Ministry on a mission trip to Ghana. Although I had previously visited South Africa, this journey was uniquely humbling, enlightening, encouraging, and empowering. Serving with the medical team, I witnessed the profound ways in which God moved among us.
Initially, I believed we should serve solely within the confines of our strengths. However, this trip was a poignant reminder that when God calls us, He expands our capacities, enabling us to serve in ways we never imagined. We had the privilege of experiencing both the rural and urban landscapes of Johannesburg. While there is still significant healing needed in the land, the progress is evident and promising. Through Christ, souls were saved, and individuals were blessed with tangible testimonies. Healing occurred on spiritual, emotional, and physical levels.
South Africa has truly become a second home to me, and I eagerly anticipate returning to serve in whatever capacity God desires. I hope the photos and videos I’ve shared will allow you to glimpse the blessings I encountered there. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit fills your heart with compassion and instills in you a hunger to serve in missions, whether through prayer, giving, or going.
In June of 2017, I embarked on a journey that would change my life forever. It was my first mission trip, and the destination was Johannesburg, South Africa. The anticipation bubbled within me as I prepared for what lay ahead, a mix of excitement and a touch of nervousness.
Upon arriving in Johannesburg, I was immediately struck by the vibrant energy of the city and the warmth of its people. Our mission team wasted no time diving into our activities. We visited various townships, each with its unique spirit and stories. As we fellowshipped with local ministries, I felt a profound connection forming, one that seemed almost divine.
One of the highlights of our mission was hosting a soccer event. The joy on the children's faces as they kicked the ball around was contagious, their laughter ringing out like music. It was more than just a game; it was a moment of pure, unadulterated joy that brought everyone together.
We also dedicated our time to feeding the community. I remember the gratitude in the eyes of those we served, a silent acknowledgment that spoke volumes. It was humbling and deeply fulfilling to know that we could provide even a small comfort to those in need.
Our visits to local schools were equally impactful. We were welcomed with open arms and eager smiles. As we shared stories, lessons, and prayers, I felt a mutual exchange of hope and inspiration. It was in these moments that the true essence of our mission was revealed – connection, compassion, and faith.
Prayer was a cornerstone of our journey. We prayed for healing, salvation, and deliverance, lifting our voices together in unison. There was a palpable sense of unity and purpose, a collective belief in the power of prayer to bring about change.
This trip ignited a hunger for missions within me, a flame that burns brighter with each passing day. The experiences and connections I made during my time in Johannesburg were nothing short of divine. They have left an indelible mark on my heart, and I know they will last a lifetime.
