Reflection 1
Class Date: July 18, 2022
Class Theme: "Introductions"
Team: Matheus Caldeira, Maggie Calhoun
Major Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge Learned: Critical thinking, Intercultural Competence, Freehand Sketching
Activity Description
Example text: I wanted to use this exercise as a chance to show how I can combine my sketching skills with my Photoshop skills to tell a story about myself. First, I sketched small icons that told a story of some of my happiest memories growing up. I highlighted my passions for video games and dancing, as they each help me see the world in a different way. I sketched some of my favorite places to visit. I used these sketches as the "body" for my portrait. I superimposed the black fill on my hair, lips, and glasses from one of my favorite photos of myself. I felt that this gave the viewer just enough information to start to see who I am, but also let them know that there is so much more to me than what you can see in this infographic.
Reflection 2
Instructor: June McCartin, Annika Nilsson Ripps
Class Date: July 18, 2022
Team: Rakshit Rajender, Juan Vivas, Abigail Williams
Major Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge Learned: Interpersonal Skills, Intercultural Competence, Creative Thinking
Activity Description (Option 1)
Example Text: The first thing I noticed as my teammates were sharing their personal portraits was how each of us created a wildly different portrait, even though we were all using the same project brief. Rakshit used photoshop entirely. Juan used hand sketching with incredible colors. And Abigail created a portrait using both watercolor and illustrator to show how she works through a design problem. Each of us chose a different designer that inspired us.
However, after reflection, I realized that we shared several things in common. We each had identified a comfort food that reminded us of home. All of us loved to travel - and several of us had collaged photos from our travel into our portrait. And we used so much blue in our individual portraits! That made it easy to choose a color palette for our community portrait (see right). We chose to make a quilted effect to highlight how, though we each have individual strengths, we are tied together.
Above: Option 1, Color Quilt
Below: Option 2, Sketches of the World
Activity Description (Part 2)
Example Text: Irving said he had developed his Photoshop skills while volunteering for the AIAS. He was willing to put those skills to use, so he led the way on bringing the different portrait elements together. Simone came up with the "big idea" of making a quilt. I helped to coordinate, setting a time for us all to meet and creating a drive folder and Whatsapp thread that we could use. I also sent out a reminder the day before we were supposed to meet.
Reflection 3
Instructor: Rachelle Crosby
Class Date: July 18, 2022
Team: Yeseul Yoon and Carrie Worn
Major Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge Learned: Interpersonal Skills, Intercultural Competence, Investigation, Inquiry, & Analysis
Reflection 4
Instructor: Shaunta Butler
Class Date: July 18, 2022
Team: Tyler Walker, Raana Suhail, Yeseul Yoon
Major Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge Learned: Problem Solving, Stakeholder Roles, Marketing Support
Activity Description
Example Text: "We are starting a design firm to research and execute cutting-edge biophilic design processes because current design firms and existing policies need an innovative, streamlined methodology for organic design concepts.
The scope of our projects can be measured in two ways: research and execution. The research part of the team focuses on investigating innovative design solutions that pertain to green design, biophillic design and biomimicry. As well exploring and understanding the connection between our wellbeing and plants in our home and work environments. The research team often collaborates with scientists, biologists, botanists, environmental analysts, university research teams, and other consultants. The other part of the team (that focuses on executing projects) is equipped to provide full design and construction administration services to clients. The scale of the projects range from residential homes to commercial projects. The office is equipped to handle projects of any size. Design work includes finding different ways to incorporate green design principles to ongoing projects."

Reflection 6
Instructor: Siboney Diaz-Sanchez
Class Date: July 18, 2022
Team: Tyler Walker, Raana Suhail, Yeseul Yoon
Major Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge Learned: Diagramming, Critical Thinking, Team Building
Activity Description
Example Text: "As a final method of engagement, a program will be created to connect local realtors and schools to provide necessary resources.
Students and faculty can be connected with local realtors through the program for assistance in finding homes.
A partnership with Boston University is a possible solution for transportation. Boston University has a shuttle system that follows paths close to BAC.
Our next questions for the community:
1.What are some challenges/difficulties that you can see our proposed engagement process facing?
2. Is there more, or even less, that our proposed engagement should do? We would like to know your thoughts on the proposal.
3. How far do you think we should extend our survey outreach?
4. How was it working with Pine Manor College and sharing the student dorm?
5. We know that the BAC has good relations with design firms, are you able to tell us if this is also true with local realtors?"

Activity Description
Example Text: "This event is an awareness program that engages the community in learning about their environment through playful visual and physical interaction. Participants engage in a 5-step process of understanding the air quality of their environments.
Interacting with the air quality kiosks and building awareness of air quality in interior spaces.
Picking their pre-made air filter case and decorating it.
Installing fans and filters to their air filter case.
Replacing kiosks with their custom made air filters.
Discussing their experience.
Sample Schedule (Friday)

4:00 PM Introduction to the air quality kiosks and air filter making workshop. Snacks and refreshments provided during this time.
4:45 PM Workshop begins
6:30 PM Takeaway discussion session
7:00 PM End"
"In conclusion, going out and getting to know the community is the best practice and way to know the real issues. A lesson learned from is working together brings more points of views, which leads to having a strong design solution. The main lesson we will bring to our future designs is to involve the community and primary stakeholders in the design process."
