The Oral Presentation Standard
The level of achievement that you receive in this standard is decided by :
the quality of ideas,
information,
or opinions,
and the delivery of oral language aspects suitable for the audience and the purpose of your presentation.
Each one of these parts is of equal importance.
You can use your research standard information for the purposes of this seminar, or you can choose another topic (run it past me first).
Achievement
Construct and deliver a crafted and controlled oral text which develops, sustains, and structures ideas.

Make sure you:
have at least one central idea or theme supported by appropriate detail
order your presentation into a logical sequence with an introduction, middle, and conclusion
use and emphasise language techniques to help make your meaning clear
use appropriate gestures to support your words
include the audience by using techniques such as personal pronouns in your speech or seminar
make regular eye contact with the audience
use cue cards correctly by only looking at them occasionally
stand steady when speaking so you don’t rock or sway
speak clearly at a reasonable volume without mumbling
speak at a reasonable pace
use the performance space, movement, and gesture in a natural manner when performing your drama
speak for at least four minutes.

Make sure you:

spend time working on your ideas, or interpretation of theme or character, considering all angles and possibilities
have valid reasons as to why you are presenting these ideas and themes
have an interesting introduction and conclusion, or opening and closing that the audience can relate to
link ideas and details for a smooth structure when appropriate
use a variety of sentence structures to help emphasise the main points in your speech or seminar
use a range of oral, visual, and other presentation techniques
know your presentation thoroughly
look at the audience for most of your presentation so your begin to interact with the audience.

make it interesting for the audience
structure material in an unique way, possibly by connecting the introduction and conclusion so that your presentation is memorable
use a range of sentence structures for deliberate effect in your speech or seminar
speak confidently using a variety of language and delivery techniques throughout your presentation
have well-rehearsed gestures and voice techniques integrated into your presentation
combine complex ideas, language, and structure successfully in your speech or seminar
know your presentation thoroughly so you can build a rapport with the audience.
