The Apurva Natvar Parikh Group, Lift & Shift Pvt. Ltd., The Green Acres Academy, Seven Rivers International School, The Acres Club, and The Fern Residency Hotel teamed up to provide meals to the needy population in the Chembur area during the 1st lockdown in 2020. Our volunteers visited the affected areas and found it to be extremely serious. There were families whose livelihoods had been taken away and had been cut off from families & villages and were left with no support system.
Our aim was to ensure these people received 2 meals per day so that they could make it through that difficult period.
We sought support in the form of:
1. Provide cooked meals that could be distributed to these people
2. Old newspapers that could be used for packaging
3. Monetary donations for our drive, to enable us to scale up our operations
Rs. 1,000 feeds a family for a week, and Rs. 5,000 feeds a family for a month.
We initially were feeding about 250 families daily, and scaled it up to to at 1,000 families daily in Chembur, its neighbouring areas and Mulund. Totally, we distributed close to 30,000 food packets between April and May 2020.
