We have all heard a person say accusingly to another: “You have an agenda!” It is usually meant as a criticism and accusation of a secretive, behind the scenes plan to teach principles or ways of thinking in a covert manner to a group who may be opposed.
But how about if we reclaim the phrase? In Christian education, we DO have an agenda for our teaching and learning. We DO have an agenda of what we want our students to learn and experience. We DO want our agenda to infiltrate all we do and all we say. We DO want our agenda of transformational Christian education to permeate all areas of school.
Thus our 2023 Convention theme is “Having An Agenda.” Our keynote speaker, Dr. Christina Edmondson, will lead us through three sessions: Having an Agenda of LOVE, Having an Agenda of COURAGE and Having an Agenda of CARE.
Thursday will include some traditional convention elements: corporate worship, two keynote sessions and FOOD. But what will be a bit different this year is that between the keynotes, teachers will spend two hours in cross-school working groups formed around specific topics/tasks. School leaders will have their own sessions led by Darryl deBoer.
Friday will follow the typical PCCE convention format, with two workshop times during which participants will select the sessions they wish to attend.
